Fox Fantasy Auto Racing Picks for Indianapolis

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will compete this week at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Teams usually bring their best cars in the fleet to this track so expect the cream to rise to the top at the Brickyard.

Track position is important this week because clean air is king at Indianapolis. The MENCS will not add any traction compound to the track to help passing. Indianapolis Motor Speedway did not want NASCAR to add any substances to their historic surface.

The scoring format for Fox Fantasy Auto Racing rewards drivers who improve their position in the race a lot more than the drivers who lead the most laps. It will be hard to pass this week so I am not going too deep into the field for my picks. Selecting drivers who start between 5th and 25th is the best strategy for Sunday.

Kyle Larson once again will start deep in the field. That makes him a MUST own driver in Fantasy Live. He has passed over 120 cars in the last two races. He will add to his totals Sunday.

Martin Truex Jr. usually does not make my team in this game because he starts too far forward. This week he starts 6th. Truex has one of the best cars and should battle Kyle Busch for the win Sunday. He is a good pick even though he starts up front.

Matt Kenseth has a fast car and should quickly move to the front from the 14th starting spot. The Toyotas have looked fast all weekend.

I debated on Ryan Blaney or Erik Jones for the fourth spot on my team. Blaney won at Pocono and Jones finished 3rd. The Tricky Triangle is similar to the Brickyard in how the drivers must drive the car. Blaney is the safer pick while Jones is a Boom or Bust pick. I will play it safe and go with Blaney.

AJ Allmendinger’s car is awful but you have to have him this week. He starts 40th and should finish around the 25th position. If he does finish 25th, that will give him 31 points for the race. That would be top 10 points for the week. So you have to take a chance with him.

Here are my picks for the Brickyard 400….

Driver 1: Kyle Larson $13,900 (Starts 25th)

Driver 2: Martin Truex Jr. $10,300 (Starts 6th)

Driver 3: Matt Kenseth $10,600 (Starts 14th)

Driver 4: Ryan Blaney $7,000 (Starts 10th)

Driver 5: AJ Allmendinger $7,400 (Starts 40th)

Good luck this week!
