Fox Fantasy Auto Racing Picks for Kentucky

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will compete this week at Kentucky Speedway. It will be nice to get back to intermediate track racing this week. These tracks tend to be more predictable than the road course race at Sonoma or the restrictor-plate race at Daytona.

Track position will be very important at Kentucky. After the repave last year there was only one groove in the track. This made passing very difficult. NASCAR decided to bring Tire Monster to the track to lay rubber at the bottom and top of the track to improve the racing. The rain may ruin their efforts.

The scoring format for Fox Fantasy Auto Racing rewards drivers who improve their position in the race a lot more than the drivers who lead the most laps. Even though track position will be so important this week, fantasy teams still need to select drivers who start outside the top 10. This will give your team the best chance to score position differential points Saturday night. Do not go crazy and start drivers to far back. Your drivers still need to finish in the top 15 to score well.

Kyle Larson missed qualifying because his car could not pass inspection. Larson will start 40th and should finish in the top 5. He had the fastest car in practice. Larson MUST be on all teams this week.

Here are my picks for the Quaker State 400….

Driver 1: Kyle Larson $11,500 (Starts 40th)

Driver 2: Clint Bowyer $10,100 (Starts 16th)

Driver 3: Kurt Busch $9,900 (Starts 15th)

Driver 4: Chase Elliott $9,800 (Starts 12th)

Driver 5: Austin Dillon $8,000 (Starts 25th)

Good luck this week!

Fantasy Live Picks for Kentucky

The monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will compete at Kentucky Speedway Saturday night. My picks survived Daytona for the most part. Now it is time to score big at a more predictable race.

I am going with a balanced lineup this week. My goal is to have 4 drivers finish each Stage in the top 10 and 4 drivers finish the race in the top 10.

Kyle Larson could not get his car to pass pre-qualifying inspection so he was unable to make a qualifying lap. He will start 40th and has a great shot to win the race. Larson had the fastest car in practice with the fastest 10-lap average speed. Larson MUST be on all teams this week.

The driver who has won the pole at the 1.5-mile tracks and the 2-mile ovals has led an average of 106.3 laps this season. Kyle Busch won the pole for Saturday night and I expect him to dominate this race. He needs a win bad and this is one of his best tracks.

Kurt Busch has never finished outside the top 10 at Kentucky. He starts 15th and his average finishing position at Kentucky is 5.1. The team said they hit on something at the end of the final practice. I expect Busch to finish each Stage in the top 10 and the race in the top 10.

Ryan Blaney was blazing fast in all practices Friday. He was 4th fastest in the first practice and 4th fastest in the final practice. Blaney said this tracks races like Texas. Blaney qualified 2nd and led 38 laps and finished 12th at Texas. He scored the 7th most points in Fantasy Live. I expect the same type of race from Blaney Saturday night. That is good value for $19.

Landon Cassill qualified 35th and that gives him value this week. He should move up 5 spots in the race and more if there is a big crash.

Here are my picks for the Quaker State 400…

Kyle Larson $27.75 (Starts 40th)

Kyle Busch $27.25 (Starts Pole)

Kurt Busch $20.25 (Starts 15th)

Ryan Blaney $19.00 (Starts 6th)

Landon Cassill $5.75 (Starts 35th)

PICK TO WIN: Kyle Busch

Good luck this week!
