The new and improved Driver Group Game is set to be released for the 2020 NASCAR season. This is one of the most popular Fantasy Games since it replaced the Yahoo Fantasy Racing game a few years ago. If you have not played the Driver Group Game before, you need to check out. The game can be found at (https://drivergroupgame.com/).
All fantasy players from the 2019 season will be placed into the leagues they were in last year. You will be able to join a new league by using the tabs on the left (click “Join League” to be placed in a new league).
* If you would like to join my league, click here for instructions: Fantasy Racing Tips League
Drivers are placed into one of three groups. Group A are the elite drivers, Group B are the contenders and Group C are the remaining drivers. Each week you will need to select Two Drivers from Group A, Four Drivers from Group B and Two Drivers from Group C. Before the race begins, you will set your starting lineups. You must select one of your Group A drivers, two of your Group B drivers and one driver from Group C for your starting lineup. Only your starting drivers will earn fantasy points during the race. You only can only use each driver eight times during the season so use your allocations wisely. Only your starting drivers have allocations deducted from their total of eight allocations for the season.
GROUP A Drivers: Brad Keselowski, Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr.
Group B Drivers: Alex Bowman, Aric Amirola, Austin Dillon, Chris Buescher, Clint Bowyer, Erik Jones, Jimmie Johnson, Kurt Busch, Kyle Larson, Matt DiBenedetto, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Ryan Blaney, Ryan Newman and William Byron
Group C Drivers: Christopher Bell, Cole Custer, Tyler Reddick, Daniel Suarez, Ty Dillon, Darrell Wallace Jr., John H. Nemechek, Michael McDowell and any driver not in Groups A or B.
Each team can use a driver eight times during the season. Once you run out of allocations with the driver, he will not score any points for your team.
Drivers will earn points based on where they finish in each race. The race winner will earn 100 points, 2nd-place earns 90 and all drivers earn 2 less points throughout the field…. Example:
Driver Finishes 1st = 100 Points
Driver Finishes 2nd = 90 Points
Driver Finishes 3rd = 88 Points
Driver Finishes 4th = 86 Points
Driver Finishes 5th = 84 Points…
Bonus Points will be award this season for Qualifying, Leading Laps and the Top-Five Stage Winners. The points will be awarded as followed:
Lead Most Laps = 5 Bonus Points
Lead A Lap = 5 Bonus Points
Qualify 1st = 10 Bonus Points
Qualify 2nd = 5 Bonus Points
Qualify 3rd = 3 Bonus Points
Qualify 4th = 2 Bonus Points
Qualify 5th = 1 Bonus Point
The Driver Group Game will once again be awarding bonus points for finishing in the top-five in the stages. This is now part of the sport so it should be part of Fantast Racing as well. Here are the bonus points for the stages…
Stage Finish 1st = 5 Bonus Points
Stage Finish 2nd = 4 Bonus Points
Stage Finish 3rd = 3 Stage Points
Stage Finish 4th = 2 Stage Points
Stage Finish 5th = 1 Stage Point
Each league commissioner will have a lot more control over their Driver Group Game leagues this season. Commissioners will be able to change which drivers are in each group, change the scoring, change will races are used for the league and remove members from the league.
Customizable Groups will allow the commissioner to decide which drivers are in Group A, Group B and Group C. Commissioners will also be able to customized how many times each driver is used throughout the season. If you want more than the eight default starts, you can change it to 9, 10 or however many you want.
Customizable Scoring will allow the commissioner to change the scoring for their league. If you really liked the scoring system from the previous Driver Group Game or the Yahoo Game, you can remove the Stage Points and change the Qualifying Points to whatever you want for your league. You can also add the Lucky Dog (removes your lowest score) if you want to.
Customizable Races will let each Commissioner choose which races to use for their league. If your league started up late, you could start with the race at Atlanta, Phoenix or Las Vegas or any race you choose. If you want to have a regular season league and a playoff league, commissioners can choose to have their leagues end at Darlington and a new league start at Las Vegas. Commissioners can also have a league of all 1.5-mile tracks, all shorts tracks or whatever they want. It is in your hands.
* If you decide you want to go back to the default settings, the commissioner can simply click on the “Reset League” tab and your league will be put back to the Driver Group Game Default settings.
The Driver Group Game is setup to be the best Fantasy Racing game available to NASCAR fans in 2020. I know this breakdown may sound complicated, but the game is really easy to play and a lot of fun too.
