NASCAR One & Done Pick for Atlanta

It took an extra day, but the Daytona 500 is in the books and the 2024 Fantasy NASCAR season is rolling down the track. The next stop is Atlanta Motor Speedway for another Superspeedway race.

So, what did we learn from the race at Daytona? The cars are much closer in speed than what we had in 2023. The Fords dominated the Superspeedways last year. The Toyota’s were expected to dominate the Daytona 500 after they won both Duel Races, but that was not the case. The Fords, Toyota’s and Chevy’s all took turns leading the race and there really wasn’t one manufacturer who stood out. Selecting our drivers is going to be more difficult this year if this trend continues at each of the track this year.

So did you survive Daytona? I used David Ragan as my One & Done pick. He spent some time up front and even led some laps. His 20th-place finish wasn’t too bad…. Austin Cindric was my pick in games where you can use a driver more than once. He looked awesome for most of the race, but was involved in wreck in the fin lap…. Joey Logano was my last One & Done pick. He spent 80% of the race in the top-10, but he crashed with Brad Keselowski again. Maybe I will learn my lesson one day and stop using Logano at Daytona.

Here are the picks for the Ambetter Health 400….

This pick is for games where you can only use a driver once throughout the season.

COREY LAJOIE will be my pick in games where you can use a driver once throughout the season. Atlanta Motor Speedway is the best track for Lajoie. He finished fifth at Atlanta in March of 2022 and the No. 7 car finished fourth last March. LaJoie also finished fourth last week at the Daytona 500. I am not worried about his starting position because his average starting position in the two races at Atlanta and the race last week at Daytona was 31st. I expect LaJoie to finish in the top-10 again Sunday.

There are some One & Done Contests that reset when the playoffs start. That means you only need to use 26 Drivers for the regular season and then 10 drivers for the playoffs. We can be more aggressive in these types of One & Done Contests.

DANIEL SUAREZ will be my pick in games that reset at the end of the regular season. The newly repaved and reconfigured track at Atlanta has been a good one for Trackhouse Racing. Ross Chastain finished second in both races in 2022 and Suarez has been good too. He finished 4th (March of 2022), 6th (July of 2022) and 2nd (last July) at Atlanta. Suarez and Ryan Blaney are the only two drivers who have three finishes in the top-10 in the Gen-7 car at this track. Atlanta ranks as the best track for Suarez in the Gen-7 car, so I will roll the dice with “My Amigo” Sunday.

There are some One & Done games that are not really “One & Done.” I play in a league where you can use a driver twice and another league where you can use a driver three times during the season. The picks posted below are for these types of contests (I am going to base these picks on being able to use a driver twice during the 2024 season).

JOEY LOGAO will be my pick in games where you can use a driver more than once during the 2024 season. I used Logano last week and I was happy for most of the race. He got spun into the wall and then I regretted my pick. I will go back to Logano this week. He cannot start the season with two DNF’s right? He led 140 laps, scored 19 Stage Points and went to Victory Lane in this race last year. I will play Logano and hope he can do it again.

Good luck Sunday!
