The NASCAR Cup Series is back after a week off to celebrate Easter. The One & Done picks have been on a hot streak, so hopefully the break does not slow them down. Denny Hamlin was my pick at Martinsville and he led the most laps, won both Stages and finished 2nd. That makes three weeks in a row with our One & Done pick finishing in the top-five. I will do my best to keep the hot streak going with another top-five driver in the Food City 500.
Here are the picks for the race for the race Sunday at Bristol Motor Speedway…
ONE & DONE CONTESTS
This pick is for games where you can only use a driver once throughout the season.
CARSON HOCEVAR will be my pick in games where you can use a driver once throughout the season. I had Kyle Larson picked in this spot before the season began, but the No. 5 car does not look as dominant as his has in the past at Bristol. I will pivot to Hocevar. He posted the 2nd-fastest speed on the 15-lap, 20-lap and 25-lap speed charts and Hocevar qualified 10th for the race. He finished 7th at Bristol last year. Hacevar has the speed to finish in the top-10 again Sunday.
ONE & DONE (REGULAR SEASON/PLAYOFF GAMES)
The picks for the Regular Season / Playoff Games are rest this week. There are some One & Done Contests that reset when the playoffs start. That means you only need to use 26 Drivers for the regular season and then 10 drivers for the playoffs. We can be more aggressive in these types of One & Done Contests.
TY GIBBS will be my pick in games that reset at the end of the regular season. Gibbs is having his best season in the Cup Series. He finished 4th at COTA, 4th at Phoenix, 5th at Las Vegas, 6th at Darlington and 4th at Martinsville. The only two drivers who have been better than Gibbs at Tyler Reddick and Denny Hamlin. Now we get to see what Gibbs can do at his best track. He led 201 laps and finished 10th in the Bristol Night Race last year. He also finished 3rd in the Food City 500. If Gibbs is going to win a race this year, this is it. He is just too good this year and at this track to fade Sunday.
ONE & DONE (USE A DRIVER MORE THAN ONCE)
There are some One & Done games that are not really “One & Done.” I play in a league where you can use a driver twice and another league where you can use a driver three times during the season. The picks posted below are for these types of contests (I am going to base these picks on being able to use a driver twice during the 2025 season).
TY GIBBS will be my pick in games where you can use a driver more than once during the 2025 season. I hate using one driver in two One & Done lineups, but this is Gibbs best track and he is off to a fast start in 2026. There is no guarantee that his hot streak will last throughout the summer, so I will use Gibbs in this format too.
