NASCAR One & Done Pick for Darlington

The Cup Series will start their run for the 2023 championship this week. That means there are only 10 races left in the season and we only need 10 drivers for our One & Done Contests. We have used 26 drivers so far in the One & Done game. It is only going to get tougher to navigate the rest of the season, because there are not 36 drivers in the field that have a good chance to win each week. The pick this week should be easy though, because there is one driver I have been saving all season for this race.

This pick is for games where you can only use a driver once throughout the season.

ERIK JONES will be my pick in games where you can use a driver once throughout the season. To say Darlington is his best track is a huge understatement. Jones has won two of the last four Southern 500s. His average finishing position in his six Southern 500s is 8.5. This is the best race of the year to use Jones in the One & Done contest.

The picks for the Regular Season / Playoff Games are rest this week. Hopefully I was able to navigate your picks so that you were able to make the playoffs. I know some people play in games that reset their allocations for the playoffs (meaning you can use any driver you want) and others continue in the playoffs, but you still cannot use the drivers you used in the regular season. I will provide picks for both styles of games.

CHRISTOPHER BELL will be my pick in games that reset for the playoffs. Bell had the fastest car in practice and he won the pole for the race. Bell also got a new pit crew this week. Joe Gibbs Racing decided to take the pit crew from Ty Gibbs and give it to Bell’s team. This is the second-fastest pit crew in the Cup Series (Behind William Byron’s pit crew). They should allow Bell to keep his track position and score well Sunday night.

RICKY STENHOUSE JR. will be my pick in games that do not reset for the playoffs. JTG Daugherty has known since February that they were in the playoffs. They probably have been working on the car for this race all summer. Stenhouse qualified third, scored Stage Points in both Stages and finished 13th at Darlington in May. There is a good chance that Stenhouse will have a similar race Sunday night.

I play in a game where I can use a driver three times throughout the season. I know some of you have told me you can use your drivers twice. We will only need 18 drivers in these games, so we do not need to dig too deep with our picks. Here is my pick in games where you can use a driver more than once….

BRAD KESELOWSKI will be my pick in games where you can use a driver more than once. RFK Racing has to have some confidence heading into the Southern 500. The team struggled last year and Keselowski was still able to finish seventh in the Southern 500. Now they have some momentum. Keselowski finished fourth at Darlington in May. I would not be surprised if Keselowski was able to manage his tire wear over a long run and win the race Sunday night.

Good luck Sunday night!
