NASCAR One & Done Pick for Las Vegas

The Cup Series will head out west for the next two weeks and the first stop is Las Vegas Motor Speedway (my old home track). We got to see what the teams have this year in their Superspeedway packages. Now the “real season” begins and we get to see what kind of speed each team has in the regular aero package. I doubt the racing at Las Vegas will top what we had last week at Atlanta, but it should still be a fun race to watch. The Pennzoil 400 can be seen Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX.

The One & Done picks were on fire last week. Daniel Suarez was the pick for the games that reset at the end of the regular season and he won the race. Ryan Blaney was the pick in games that allow you to use a driver multiple times and he finished second. Corey LaJoie was the pick in games where you can only use a driver once and he finished 13th. We will need the same luck in Sin City in order to hit the jackpot this week.

Here are the picks for the Pennzoil 400….

This pick is for games where you can only use a driver once throughout the season.

ALEX BOWMAN will be my pick in games where you can use a driver once throughout the season. I know it is tough to trust Bowman right now, but Las Vegas Motor Speedway is one of his best tracks. Bowman won the race in Las Vegas in 2022 in the Gen-7 car and he finished 3rd in this race last year. Hendrick Motorsports has won three of the four races in the Gen-7 car at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. I want one of their drivers as my pick this week and I am not ready to use Kyle Larson or William Byron in this format. I will take a chance with the No. 48 car Sunday.

There are some One & Done Contests that reset when the playoffs start. That means you only need to use 26 Drivers for the regular season and then 10 drivers for the playoffs. We can be more aggressive in these types of One & Done Contests.

WILLIAM BYRON will be my pick in games that reset at the end of the regular season. He is playing with “House Money” after his win in the Daytona 500. Byron also won this race last year. He has a series-best 115.2 Driver Rating and a series-best 185 laps led in the Gen-7 car in Las Vegas. The No. 24 car looks fast again. Byron posted the second-fastest speed in his group in practice with the second-fastest 10-lap average speed. Byron starts fourth and should have a great chance to get his second win of the season.

There are some One & Done games that are not really “One & Done.” I play in a league where you can use a driver twice and another league where you can use a driver three times during the season. The picks posted below are for these types of contests (I am going to base these picks on being able to use a driver twice during the 2024 season).

KYLE LARSON will be my pick in games where you can use a driver more than once during the 2024 season. He totally dominated the last race and “Yung Money” may do it again Sunday. Larson led 133 laps, won both Stages and went to Victory Lane at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last October. He finished second in both Stages and second in the race last March. The No. 5 car posted the third-fastest speed in practice, with the fastest speed on the five, 10, 15 and 20-lap speed charts. Larson starts on the front row.  He is going to be tough to beat in Sin City.

Good luck Sunday!
