NASCAR One & Done Pick for Richmond

Facebooktwitter

The Cup Series will travel to Richmond Raceway this weekend. This is the second race at Richmond this year and the sixth race on a short, flat track in 2023. The race Sunday is also the 22nd race on the schedule. That means we have used 21 drivers so far in the One & Done game. The picks are going to get tougher as NASCAR ends the regular season and starts the playoffs. Do not worry though; I have a plan to get us to Phoenix with some good picks. The Cook Out 400 can be seen Sunday at 3 p.m. on USA Network.

ONE & DONE CONTESTS

This pick is for games where you can only use a driver once throughout the season.

DENNY HAMLIN will be my pick in games where you can use a driver once during the season. I originally had Chase Elliott in this spot, but I realized I used him at Dover.

ONE & DONE (USE A DRIVER ONCE IN REGULAR SEASON)

CHASE ELLIOTT will be my pick in games where you can use a driver once in the regular season and then the picks reset for the playoffs. Elliott did not compete in the first race at Richmond this year, but Josh Berry drove the No. 9 car to a second-place finish. Elliott finished fifth in this race last year. His car looks fast again this weekend. Elliott posted the second-fastest speed in practice and qualified fourth for the race. Do not worry about saving Elliott for the road courses. We have Shane van Gisbergen at Indianapolis and AJ Allmendinger for Watkins Glen.

ONE & DONE (USE A DRIVER MORE THAN ONCE)

I play in a game where I can use a driver three times throughout the season. I know some of you have told me you can use your drivers twice. We will only need 18 drivers in these games, so we do not need to dig too deep with our picks. Here is my pick in games where you can use a driver more than once….

KEVIN HARVICK will be my pick in games where you can use a driver more than once. We have to decide if we want to use Harvick this week or save him for Michigan. These are the two best tracks left on the schedule for Harvick. The No. 4 car is always good at the short, flat tracks. Harvick finished fifth at Phoenix, fifth at Richmond, 10th at Gateway and fourth at New Hampshire. He should have a good chance to finish in the top-five Sunday.

Good luck Sunday!
