NASCAR One & Done Picks for Atlanta

Facebooktwitter

One race down and 35 more to go. You need a lot of luck to come out of Daytona with your driver’s car in one piece. The next 10 races should be more predictable and allow our One & Done picks to finish in the top 10. The Cup Series travels to Atlanta Motor Speedway this week for the Folds of Honor QuickTrip 500. The race can be seen Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on Fox.

I mapped out each driver for their best tracks this season. This is the best way to prepare your picks for the One & Done game. There are 32 drivers from well funded teams and 36 races in the 2019 season. That leaves us 4 drivers short for the season. We can usually find replacement drivers that are half-way decent at the Superspeedway tracks. When these “ringers” are entered into the race, we need to use them since there are not enough drivers to fill the races.

Here are my picks for Atlanta…

Jamie McMurray 22nd Daytona Jamie McMurray 22nd
Atlanta Aric Almirola ? Atlanta Aric Almirola ?

My goal every year in the One & Done game is to have an average finishing position of 15th or better from my drivers. Jamie McMurray finished 22nd so we are a little behind after the first race. Do not panic, there is still plenty of time to move inside the top 15.

My One & Done pick this week will be Aric Almirola. Atlanta is the best track for Stewart-Haas Racing. All of their cars looked fast in practice. Almirola won the pole and posted the 10th fastest long lap speed in final practice. We may not get another chance to use Almirola from the pole position. He is the obvious choice in One & Done games this week.

Good luck this week!
