The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will head back to the Midwest to compete at Chicagoland Speedway. This will be the 6th race at a 1.5-mile track so we will have a lot more information to use for the picks this week. The track is bumpy and usually puts on a good show. The race we saw at Kansas Speedway should be similar to what we see in Chicago. The Camping World 400 can be seen Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network (Yes, NBC Sports Network. Not Fox…so make sure you have the right channel).
My goal every year in the One & Done game is to have an average finishing position of 15th or better from my drivers. Michael McDowell did not do anything to help me reach my goal with his 25th place finish. Road courses are unpredictable so I plan to do much better this week at the 1.5-mile oval track.
Here are my picks for Chicagoland Speedway…

My One & Done pick this week will be Alex Bowman. The No. 88 was one of the fastest cars in both practices Saturday. Bowman posted the 8th fastest speed in final practice with the 3rd fastest 10-lap average speed. Bowman finished 2nd and 7th in his last 2 races on 1.5-mile tracks. I expect another top-10 finish from him Sunday.
Good luck this week!
