This is by far the best year I have had in the One & Done game. Yes, the picks pulled an “Alex Bowman” when Kurt Busch backed his way into a third-place finish at Atlanta but like Bowman said after his win at Las Vegas, “It doesn’t matter how you get there as long as you put yourself in position at the end of the race.” That is exactly what Busch did and now the average finishing position for the One & Done picks is ninth through five races.
The Cup Series travels to Austin, Texas this week to compete at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA). We need to pick one of the “Road Course Aces” this week and there are a lot to choose from.
The days of only having 10 drivers who can win on the road courses are over. The drivers have sharpened their road course skills by using the simulator and by running in the Truck or Xfinity Series races. Most of the field this week knows how to get around COTA.
Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson were the two best drivers on the road courses last year. They won five of the seven races. Elliott and Larson are the favorites to win Sunday but it is a good idea to save them in your One & Done contests for the oval tracks. There are plenty of choices this week who are really good on the road courses and not so good on the ovals. These are the drivers we want to pick for our One & Done games Sunday.
ONE & DONE PICK FOR ATLANTA: AUSTIN CINDRIC will be my One & Done pick and I will use him in games that reset at the end of the regular season and in games where you can use a driver more than once. Cindric looked like he was going to run away with the race at COTA last year. He qualified third and immediately took the lead. Cindric was in another zip code when the rain caused him to slide off the track and ended his race. Cindric has more experience in the Cup Series now and he should be a threat to win Sunday from the 10th starting position. I like Austin in Austin, Texas 🙂
Good Luck This Week!
