The NASCAR Cup Series will kick off the playoffs with another trip to Darlington Raceway. This will be the third trip to South Carolina for the Cup Series cars. The race also means there are only 10 races left in the crazy 2020 season. Finding quality drivers for your contest is becoming more difficult. It will be important to try and find those “sleeper picks” in these final races.
Last Race: The One & Done pick almost worked out well. Ty Dillon was running in the top 10 with two laps to go but was caught up in the wreck when Kevin Harvick hit the wall. Dillon finished 22nd. I guess we should have used Brendan Gaughan. We will use Mr. Gaughan at Talladega.
Here are my picks for the Southern 500…

My One & Done Pick for Darlington: John Hunter Nemechek
John H. Nemecheck came out of nowhere to finish 9th in the first race at Darlington. He ran the wall and he passed a lot of cars. Nemechek tried the same strategy in the second race at Darlington and it did not work. Nemechek crashed on lap 30 of the race and caused him to finish 35th. His car was fast in both races and I am hoping he learned his lesson and will not get so close to the wall Sunday night. This is one of the better tracks for Nemechek so I will roll the dice with him.
Tyler Reddick was one of the biggest surprises in the races at Darlington in May. He started 29th and finished 7th on Sunday. He tried to run the high-line against the wall and it worked. He passed a lot of cars in both races. Reddick will be a great pick this week if he can keep the Darlington stripes to a minimum.
* Erik Jones needs to be your pick if he is available for your One & Done contest. Darlington is by far his best track. Jones has never finished outside the top 10 at this track.
Good luck this week!
