NASCAR One & Done Picks for Daytona

Facebooktwitter

The NASCAR Cup Series will travel back to Daytona Saturday night for the last race of the regular season. There is a lot on line for the drivers on the outside of the top-16 in the playoff standings. These drivers will have a decent chance to win the race because the secret to winning at Daytona is to be in the right place at the right time. Drivers do not necessarily have to have the fastest car to win the race. It should get interesting this week. The Coke Zero Sugar 400 can be seen Saturday evening at 7 p.m. ET on NBC.

Kevin Harvick was my One & Done pick at Michigan. Once again the No. 4 team looked terrible. Harvick had a hard time running in the top 10 and the changes to the car did not help much. Harvick finished 14th and did little to help us in the One & Done game.

My One & Done Pick for Daytona: Kaz Grala

We need to save our top drivers for the more predictable tracks so that means it’s time to select one of those drivers who typically finishes outside the top-25. My One & Done pick Saturday night will be Kaz Grala. He will be driving the No. 16 car for Kaulig Racing. This car won at Indianapolis. Can they do it again? I would not count them out. The car will be built by Richard Childress Racing and the engine will be from Hendrick/Childress engines department, so you know it will have speed. Grala has competed in three Cup Series races in his career. He finished 7th at the Daytona Road Course, 6th at Talladega and 28th at Daytona Superspeedway. I will roll the dice with Grala Saturday night.

Justin Haley needs to be your pick if you need a good finish this week. He has been really good at Daytona. Haley finished 13th, 17th and won the race at Daytona in 2019. That is a 10.3 average finishing position in his last three races at Daytona. That sounds good to me. I will roll the dice with the No. 77 car Saturday night.

Good luck this week!
