NASCAR One & Done Picks for Las Vegas

Facebooktwitter

It is time for NASCAR to pack up the haulers and head out west for three weeks of racing. The first stop is in Sin City for the Pennzoil 400. This will be the first race of the season with the full 2019 rules package. That means it will likely be more unpredictable from what we have seen in the past at Las Vegas.  The race can be seen Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET on Fox.

Here are my picks for Las Vegas…

Pick Driver Once

Pick Driver Twice

Daytona Jamie McMurray 22nd Daytona Jamie McMurray

Aric Almirola 8th Atlanta Aric Almirola 8th
Las Vegas Austin Dillon ? Las Vegas Brad Keselowski

My goal every year in the One & Done game is to have an average finishing position of 15th or better from my drivers. Jamie McMurray finished 22nd in the Daytona 500 and Aric Almirola finished 8th at Atlanta so we are right on schedule with a 15th-place average finishing. We need a score some top-10 finishes in the west coast races so we will have some room to play with in case our drivers find trouble in the short track races when the series returns to the east coast.

My One & Done pick this week will be Austin Dillon. I was not planning on using Dillon in this race but his No. 3 Chevy looks like the best car in the field. He had the fastest speed Friday and the fastest speed in final practice. He also had the best 10-lap average speed. He is risky, but we need to use him sometime. Why not use him when he posts the fastest speed?

In games where you can use a driver more than once or the season ends at the conclusion of the regular season, I will use Brad Keselowski. He really liked his car in practice and he is already locked into the playoffs. The No. 2 team can gamble to get track position Sunday.

Good luck this week!
