NASCAR One & Done Picks for Las Vegas

The Daytona 500 is in the books and now the “real season” begins. The teams have been working hard since they left Homestead in November to improve their cars for the 2020 season. Now it is time for the teams to lay down their cards in Las Vegas and show us what kind of speed they have for the 2020 season. The Pennzoil 400 can be seen Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET on Fox.

My goal every year in the One & Done game is to have an average finishing position of 15th or better from my drivers. We are off to a great start this season. David Ragan was the best choice in the Daytona 500 because he was only scheduled for one race this season. Wow, did he pay off. We got an 4th-place finish from Ragan and now we can start bringing our average into the top 10 with more predictable races on the schedule.

Here are my picks for Las Vegas …

Ross Chastain will fill in for Ryan Newman in the No. 6 car at Las Vegas. There is no word yet how long Newman may be out of the car or how many races Chastain will be behind the wheel. If you read my “Secrets to Winning Your One & Done” article, you will know that we have to take advantage of fill-in drivers when they get a chance to drive a good car. This is one of those weeks. Chastain posted the 6th-fastest speed in final practice with the 3rd-fastest long-run speed. This is a great race to use Chastain in your One & Done leagues.

Pick a Driver Twice is for leagues where you are allowed to use a driver more than once. We do not have to dig as deep to find drivers in these types of contests so the picks will be different. I will use Joey Logano as my pick for these games this week.

Good luck this week!
