NASCAR One & Done Picks for Martinsville

Facebooktwitter

The NASCAR Cup Series will get back to short-track racing Wednesday night. The Cup Series will compete at Martinsville in what should be a fun race filled with a lot of beating and banging by some hot-temper drivers. This race was made for primetime TV. The Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500 can be seen Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET on FS1.

Last Race: I hate how NASCAR informs us which drivers are going to the back one hour before the race. I have a lot of lineups to update so it limits my time to make a decision. That is what happened at Atlanta. Kurt Busch was sent to the back and had to perform a pass-through penalty for failing inspection. I replaced Busch with Clint Bowyer in my lineups. It looked like a good decision until the No. 14 car had a flat tire with 12 laps to go. Bowyer gave up the 8th position and finished 20th. That sucks!

My One & Done Pick for Martinsville: Aric Almirola

I need to save my top drivers for a larger track and try to get a top-10 finish from a driver I have no interest using on a 1.5-mile track. I will use Aric Almirola in my One & Done lineup this week. Almirola starts 2nd and track position is important at Martinsville. He finished 9th, 11th and 14th at Martinsville before being dumped by Kyle Busch while running 5th last year. I expect Almirola to have a good chance to finish in the top 10 Wednesday night.

I will use Brad Keseowski in games where I can use a driver more than once throughout the season. Keselowski destroyed the field at this track last year. He won both Stages, led 446 of the 500 laps and went to Victory Lane. Keselowski has only finished outside the top-5 once since 2015 (9 races) at Martinsville. He is the safest pick in the field Wednesday night.

Good luck this week!
