NASCAR One & Done Picks for Richmond

Facebooktwitter

The NASCAR Cup Series will travel to Richmond Raceway for another short, flat track race. This has been Joe Gibbs Racing playground for the last decade, but Brad Keselowski was able to sneak into Victory Lane last year. Will JGR continue their dominance at the track or can Team Penske or Hendrick Motorsports place a driver into Victory Lane? It should be fun to watch. The Toyota Owners 400 can be seen Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on FOX.

Ryan Preece was my pick last week at Martinsville. He was running 12th half-way through Stage 2 and I thought we were about to strike gold. His alternator went out and it ruined his race and my pick for the race. I wish I could predict mechanical problems. This job would be a lot easier.

Here are my picks for the Toyota Owners 400

My One & Done Pick for Richmond: Martin Truex Jr.

I need a bounce back performance after the bad luck with Ryan Preece at Martinsville. I hope to get a great finish from Martin Truex Jr. The most similar track to Richmond is Phoenix and Truex just won the race in the desert this season. Truex will start from the pole, have the No. 1 pit stall at a track where he has finished 2nd, 1st, 1st and 3rd in his last 4 races. Truex is also averaging 111 laps led in his last 7 races at Richmond. I need to win this week so I will use my allocation with Truex at Richmond.

Austin Dillon is a good choice if you want to save your allocation with Martin Truex Jr. I will be using Dillon in games where I can use a driver twice during the season. Dillon has finished 3 of the last 4 races at Richmond in the top 6. The No. 3 car started 3rd, finished 2nd in both Stages, led 55 laps and finished 4th at Richmond last September. This is the best track for Dillon so you need to use him this week or when the Cup Series returns to Richmond in September.

Good luck this week!
