NASCAR One & Done Picks for Sonoma

Facebooktwitter

The Cup Series will compete at Sonoma Raceway this week. This will be the second of six races on the road courses this year. Sonoma is the most technical of the road courses and fuel strategy always comes into play. It will be fun to see how the new Gen-7 car can navigate this tricky track. The Toyota / Save Mart 350 can be seen Sunday at 4 p.m. ET on FS1.

My One & Done picks drove me crazy last week. Chase Briscoe was the pick in games where you can only see a driver once through the season. Briscoe was dominating the race and I had a huge smile on my face. Then, just like every race this season, there were tire problems in the race and Briscoe lost all of his track position. He fought the entire race trying to get back to the front but passing was too difficult and the No. 14 car finished 21st. Ouch!

And then there was Ross Chastain… What in the hell was he doing last week? I picked Chastain for the games where you can use a driver more than once throughout the season and Chastain decided to pick a fight with most of the field. I was screaming at the TV, “Stop F***** around with Denny Hamlin and just focus on the race!!!” Somehow Chastain finished 8th and salvaged a good finish in s a disaster of a race.

Here is my One & Done pick for the Toyota / Save Mart 350

ONE & DONE PICK FOR SONOMA: CHRIS BUESCHER will be my pick in the One & Done games where you can use a driver only once throughout the season. He has been through a lot over the last two weeks. Buescher flipped at Charlotte and then he had Covid, so why not add a win to the list? We have to use Buescher at some point this season. I will take my chance with him since he starts 3rd ad posted the 10th fastest speed in practice.

ONE & DONE PICK FOR SONOMA: KYLE LARSON will be my pick in the One & Done game and in games where you can use a driver more than once throughout the season. Larson totally dominated the race at Sonoma last year and he has the speed to do it again. Larson won both Stages and the race at his home track last year. Now he had the fastest car in practice, won the pole and has the No. 1 pit stall. If he can hold off Chase Elliott, he will win the race.

Good Luck This Week!
