NASCAR One & Done Picks for Talladega

Facebooktwitter

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will travel to Talladega Superspeedway this week for the GEICO 500. Joe Gibbs Racing and Team Penske have won every race in 2019. That trend could change Sunday. Most of the drivers who are entered in the race this week have a good chance of winning. This is the race to take a chance with the lower funded drivers. The GEICO 500 can be seen Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on Fox.

My goal every year in the One & Done game is to have an average finishing position of 15th or better from my drivers. Kyle Busch finished 8th for us at Richmond and although that is a good finish, it is not good for a One & Done game. We needed a win with Busch in the One & Done game and we did not get it. Our average finishing position from our One & Done picks is 10.4. Not too bad. Now we need to get a top-10 finish from a driver we are not expecting much from.

Here are my picks for Talladega…

My One & Done pick this week will Ty Dillon. Talladega is his best track. He has competed in four MENCS races at Talladega and he has NEVER finished outside the top 15. Dillon will start 13th Sunday and have a pretty good pit selection. We need drivers who can finish in the top 15 so I will roll the dice with the No. 13 GEICO Chevy in the GEICO 500.

Good luck this week!
