NASCAR One & Done Picks for Talladega

Facebooktwitter

Pull those belts tight, it is time to go racing at Talladega Superspeedway. This race is a total crapshoot so it is also a good week to try your luck with a scrub driver in your One & Done games. If there is a wreck at the end of the race, these scrubs could finish in the top 10. That is how I plan to play it this week. The 1000Bulbs.com 500 can be seen Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on NBC.

My goal every year in the One & Done game is to have an average finishing position of 15th or better from my drivers. Last week I decided to use Martin Truex Jr. at his home track and we almost got our second win of the season in the One & Done game. Truex finished 2nd and brought our yearly average finishing position to 12.9. That is not bad, but it is going to get a lot more difficult in the remaining six races.

Here are my picks for Talladega…

Wow, it is getting slim pickings for the One & Done game with 6 races left in the season. The drivers I have available to me include: Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Corey Lajoie, Landon Cassill, Ross Chastain and Matt Tifft.

I will roll the dice with Joey Gase Sunday. He qualified 37th and finished 18th in this race last year. I would gladly take a similar performance from him Sunday. Gase also competed in the MENCS race at Daytona in July. He started dead last and finished 27th. I am not expecting a top 10 finish but if Gase finishes inside the top 20, I will be very happy.

* Paul Menard is having problems with his neck. If he cannot drive Sunday, Matt Crafton will drive the No. 21 car. I will use Crafton over Joey Gase if he replaces Menard.

** If you have the ability to use David Ragan, Ty Dillon, Michael McDowell or Brandon Gaughan… I would use one of them (In the order listed) instead of Joey Gase.

Good luck this week!
