The NASCAR Cup Series will travel to Talladega Superspeedway this week for the GEICO 500. We have to use 36 drivers throughout the season in the One & Done Game so races on the Superspeedways give us a good chance to use a driver who typically runs in the back because any driver in the field can finish in the top-10 Sunday.
The Cup Series is deeper this year than it has been in the past. There are 29 good teams in the Cup Series so that means we only need to find seven drivers to fill in the rest of the races. Kaulig Racing is rotating three drivers in the No. 16 car. These drivers are all good choices on the Road Courses or the smaller tracks, so that means we only need to find four scrubs through-out the year. David Ragan is racing in all of the Superspeedways races. He is a good choice at either Daytona or Talladega. Now we are down to two drivers needed to fill out the season. Corey LaJoie will be used in the last race at Talladega, so now I only need one more. There are rumors that Ty Gibbs may be brought up for a race or two at the end of the season. So that means I can use one of my better drivers this week and still get through the season with good picks for each track.
Here is my One & Done pick for the GEICO 500…
ONE & DONE PICK FOR TALLADEGA: BUBBA WALLACE JR. will be my One & Done pick Sunday. Wallace finished second in the Daytona 500 and 13th at Atlanta this year in the Gen-7 car. He won the last race at Talladega and I would not be surprised if Wallace was in Victory Lane Sunday. I will roll the dice with Wallace this week at his best track.
DRIVER USE MORE THAN ONCE FOR TALLADEGA: BRAD KESELOWSKI will be my pick where you can use a driver more than once and in games that reset at the end of the regular season. The No. 6 team is in a hole because of a penalty for modifications they made to the Gen-7 car. Keselowski needs a win to make the playoffs and he knows Talladega is a good track to get the job done at. RFK Racing has looked good on the Superspeedways this year so I will take a chance with Keselowski Sunday.
Good Luck This Week!
