The MENCS will travel to the Midwest this week for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. This will be the third race of the season using the full 2019 aero package. The racing should be closing and more exciting from what we have seen in previous races at Texas. The O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 can be seen Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on Fox.
My goal every year in the One & Done game is to have an average finishing position of 15th or better from my drivers. Our average finishing position for the season is 11.5 which are OK. The races at Texas tend to be predictable. The drivers who run fast laps in practice tend to race up front. We need another top-10 finish from out One & Done drivers so we can have our average finishing position inside the top 10.
Here are my picks for Texas…

My One & Done pick this week will Jimmie Johnson. We need to use the seven-time champion at some point this season, right? Well it may not setup better than it does for the race Sunday. Johnson won the pole, posted the fastest 10-lap, 15-lap and 20-lap average speed. It is hard to trust Johnson but I will close my eyes, cross my fingers, rub my rabbit’s foot and hope Johnson finds the fountain of youth Sunday.
Good luck this week!
