Slingshot Fantasy Auto Contest Picks for Bristol

Facebooktwitter

The MENCS will compete at Bristol Motor Speedway this week. Track position is more important at Bristol then it is at almost any other track on the circuit. That does not mean you cannot ignore the drivers who start in the back Sunday.

Slingshot Fantasy Auto Contest awards 2 points per gained in the race and some of the best drivers in the field start outside the top 25.

Kevin Harvick crashed his car in practice Friday so he will start 39th Sunday. Harvick leads the series in average finishing position (4.75) and has the second-best driver rating (113.7) in the last four races at the track. Harvick will have 500 laps to get to the front. He should break the top 10 and score at least 60 bonus points for position differential Sunday.

Martin Truex Jr. has not always been good at Bristol but he seemed to figure it out last year Truex led 116 laps and finished 8th in this race in 2017. The No. 78 car will start 26th and should move up 16 spots and score 32 bonus points for position differential this week.

Denny Hamlin is one of the best short track races and he is the most consistent driver at Bristol. He has finished 3rd in 3 of the last 5 races. Hamlin starts 25th Sunday and he could easily move up 20 spots and score 40 bonus points for position differential.

Trevor Bayne will be my wild card pick this week. This is his home track and Bayne usually runs well here. Bayne has the second-best average finishing position (8.75) in the last 4 races at Bristol. Bayne starts 33rd and he should finish near the top 15. I expect Bayne to score 36 bonus points for position differential this week.

David Ragan posted the fastest speed in final practice and his car was fast on the 10 and 15-lap average speed chart. Front Row Motorsports is now receiving cars from Roush Fenway Racing, so this is essentially a RFR car. Ragan starts 23rd and should be able to finish inside the top 20 Sunday.

Here are the rest of my picks for the Bristol….

Driver 1: Kevin Harvick $12,900 (Starts 39th)

Driver 2: Martin Truex Jr. $11,800 (Starts 26th)

Driver 3: Denny Hamlin $11,000 (Starts 25st)

Driver 4: Trevor Bayne $7,700 (Starts 33rd)

Driver 5: David Ragan $6,100 (Starts 23rd)

Good luck this week!
