The 2018 MENCS season starts this week and it will be the first race for the Slingshot Fantasy Auto Contest. It was sad to see the Fox Fantasy Auto Racing game go away but after being the lead Fantasy NASCAR writer for Fox Sports for two years; I cannot say I was surprised.
The rules are a little different for the Slingshot Fantasy Auto Racing game from the old Fox Fantasy Game. The new game awards 2 points for position differential and 20 bonus points to the race winner. Usually it will be important to focus on selecting the race winner, but this week any driver can realistically win the race. There is no need to chase the 20 points for the winner. We must focus on the position differential points in the Daytona 500.
I see no reason to select any driver who starts inside the top 20 this week. Our goal is to get 10 position differential points per driver.
Here are my picks for the Daytona 500….
Driver 1: Brad Keselowski $10,900 (Starts 31st)
Driver 2: Jimmie Johnson $10,400 (Starts 35th)
Driver 3: Kyle Larson $10,200 (Starts 40th)
Driver 4: Aric Almirola $7,900 (Starts 37th)
Driver 5: William Byron $7,300 (Starts 33rd)
