Slingshot Fantasy Auto Contest Picks for Indianapolis

Facebooktwitter

The MENCS will compete at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this week in the Brickyard 400. Rain washed out all of the on-track activity Saturday so the field was set by owner’s points. The race is scheduled for 1 pm ET Sunday on NBCSN but rain is still in the forecast. The race could be run Monday after the Xfinity Series race.

Here are the rest of my picks for the Indianapolis….

Kyle Busch is my pick to win the race, earn 5 bonus points for leading the most laps and 20 bonus points for finishing first. Busch has won 2 of the last 3 races at the Brickyard and he dominated the race last year. Busch starts on the pole and has the No. 1 pit stall. Passing is tough at this track so track position is very important. I trust Busch to dominate this race.

Joey Logano is one of the safest picks in the field. Team Penske always runs well at this track although they have never won. Logano starts 5th and he has a 4.5 average finishing position at the track since 2013. I would not be surprised if Logano was in Victory Lane whenever they race.

Ryan Newman needs to win this race if he wants to be in the playoffs. He has done it before and I expect crew chief Luke Lambert to pull every trick they have out of the bag to get to the front. The No. 31 team has been running well lately so I will trust Newman.

Matt Kenseth must be on every team. He is one of the best drivers at the Brickyard but his Roush Fenway Racing Ford has not been nearly as fast as the cars he had at Joe Gibbs Racing. Kenseth starts 29th and even with a slower car he should be able to move up 10 spots in the race.

Jamie McMurray starts 21st and he has a 15.6 average finishing position in his last 3 trips to the Brickyard. McMurray is another driver who must gamble with pit strategy to steal a win to make the playoffs. I like having the drivers who will do everything possible to win this week in my lineups.

Kyle Busch ($12,400) (Starts Pole)

Joey Logano ($10,700) (Starts 5th)

Ryan Newman ($9,400) (Starts 17th)

Matt Kenseth ($9,000) (Starts 29th)

Jamie McMurray ($8,400) (Starts 21st)

Good luck this week!
