The MENCS will compete at Kentucky Speedway Saturday night. This will be the seventh race at the 1.5-mile tracks and these races tend to be fairly predictable. The race at Daytona was a tough race to get all of our drivers to the finish line. This will be a good week to pick up the points we may have lost at Daytona.
Slingshot Fantasy Auto Racing Contest awards 20 bonus points if you have the winning driver and this is the perfect week to chase these bonus points. Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex Jr. have won the last 12 races on the 1.5-mile tracks. Taking two of these drivers will give you a great chance to score the 20 bonus points Saturday night.
I am going to try and select the winner and score the 20 bonus points. I am using the two drivers who have won every race this season on the 1.5-mile tracks. Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch were both fast in the practice sessions and they were fast in qualifying. I am hoping Martin Truex Jr. does not spoil my plan.
Denny Hamlin failed to qualify his car so he will start 36th. He must be on every team this week. Hamlin had a top 10 car in practice and he will have a great chance to finish in the top 10. I expect Hamlin to score 28 place differential points Saturday night.
Joey Logano was fast in practice but I am not sure why the car was so loose in qualifying. Logano will start 19th and he should move up 9-10 spots this week. Logano has finished 5 of the 6 races on 1.5-mile tracks in the top 8 this season. This is not an impound race so the No. 22 team can work with the No. 2 and No. 12 teams to fix up Logano’s car.
Landon Cassill is the final driver because he is the best driver who fits the budget. I do not expect much from Cassill this week. He starts 33rd and I am hoping he can move up 5 spots in the race Saturday night.
Here are the rest of my picks for the Kentucky….
Kevin Harvick ($12,100) (Starts 3rd)
Kyle Busch ($12,200) (Starts 5th)
Joey Logano ($10,700) (Starts 17th)
Denny Hamlin ($10,200) (Starts 36th)
Landon Cassill ($4,700) (Starts 33rd)
Good luck this week!
