The MENCS will compete at Michigan International Raceway Sunday. If you like speed, this is the race for you. Michigan is the fastest track on the circuit. The race can be seen at Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on Fox.
Slingshot Fantasy Auto Racing Contest awards 20 points to the driver who wins the race. Three drivers (Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr.) have won 19 of the last 21 races on the non-plate tracks. You will have a good chance to earn these 20 bonus points if you pick Harvick, Busch or Truex this week. I thought about going with Martin Truex Jr. as my No. 1 driver this week but Kevin Harvick looked so good in practice that I could not pass up a chance to score the 20 bonus points with him for winning the race.
Kyle Larson must be on all teams this week. He won the last three races at Michigan and his average finishing position in the last 4 races on 2-mile ovals is 1.2. Larson qualified 26th and should score the most place differential points this week.
Clint Bowyer has been solid all year and he looks fast again this week. Bowyer was 4th fastest in practice with the 4th-best long run speed. He starts 12th and will have a great chance to move into the top 5 Sunday.
Paul Menard should be good this week. Michigan is one of his best tracks and his Wood Brothers Ford was fast in practice. Menard posted the 11th-fastest speed with the 9th-best 10-lap speed. It will help him if he has a chance to turn some laps in the Xfinity Series before the race Sunday.
David Ragan will be my last choice this week. I have been waiting a while to use Ragan but was unable to because he kept qualifying inside the top 20. Finally Ragan starts outside the top 25 (Starts 27th) and will be able to score some place differential points. Ragan’s average finishing position in his last 5 races is 17th. He will have a good chance to move up 8-10 spots Sunday.
Here are the rest of my picks for the Michigan….
Kevin Harvick ($12,200) (Starts 4th)
Kyle Larson ($11,800) (Starts 26th)
Clint Bowyer ($10,200) (Starts 12th)
Paul Menard ($9,100) (Starts 15th)
David Ragan ($6,600) (Starts 27th)
Good luck this week!
