The MENCS will compete at Richmond Raceway this week. Track position will not be as important at Richmond as it was last week at Bristol. This track is abrasive and eats up tires. The drivers who can move around the track to find out where their cars runs the best will be able to make their way through the field Saturday night.
Slingshot Fantasy Auto Contest awards 2 points per gained in the race so it will be important to select some of the drivers who start deeper in the field this week.
Kevin Harvick is my pick to win and he starts 10th. Harvick started 10th at Phoenix and won the race as well. If I am right, Harvick will score 20 bonus points for position differential and 20 bonus points for winning the race. He had the fastest car on the 20 and 30 lap runs and this is the car that won at Phoenix. Harvick should be good this week.
Kyle Busch must be in all lineups this week..PERIOD! He starts 32nd and could easily win this race. The only reason why he starts so deep in the field is because he was trying to hold back speed in round one of qualifying so he could have better tires in rounds 2 and 3. He held way too much back he said on MRN radio. He will quickly make his way to the front Saturday night.
Brad Keselowski said his team started with too low tire pressure and it caused him to qualify 28. Keselowski looked really good in practice and he has a history of running well at this track. I expect him to score 40 bonus points for position differential this week.
AJ Allmendinger starts 33rd and I expect him to move up 10 spots and score 20 points for position differential. Allmendinger was 10th fastest in final practice so his car should be much better than where he starts the race.
Daniel Hemric is a risky pick for this team but I want to pay up for Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski so I had to save somewhere. Hemric should have a good car and he has a lot of talent. I just need him to stay in the top 25 for this lineup to score well. I think he can do it.
Here are the rest of my picks for the Richmond….
Driver 1: Kevin Harvick $13,000 (Starts 10th)
Driver 2: Kyle Busch $13,100 (Starts 32nd)
Driver 3: Brad Keselowski $11,800 (Starts 28th)
Driver 4: AJ Allmendinger $7,000 (Starts 33rd)
Driver 5: Daniel Hemric $5,000 (Starts 22nd)
Good luck this week!
