Truck Series Fantasy Picks for Homestead

Facebooktwitter

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will join the Xfinity Series and the Cup Series at Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend. This race used to be the first race in the Round of 8 for the Truck Series, but it has been moved to March. The Truckers always put on a pretty good show in Southern Florida, but that is because the Cup Series regulars were not able to compete in the Truck Series playoff races. Kyle Larson will be behind the wheel of the No. 07 truck tonight. Will he stink up the show? I will discuss that more in the DraftKings Strategy section of this article. The Baptist Health 200 can be seen Friday at 8 p.m. ET on BIG FOX.

PRACTICE / QUALIFYING

The Truck Series had their normal practice session Friday afternoon at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The teams were broken up into two groups. Each group had 25-minutes to shake down their trucks for the Baptist Health 200. Most of the truckers made short runs and then came in to make adjustments. A few teams made some long runs in practice. We should still be able to learn something from the single-lap speed and where the drivers qualified in the race.

It is important to know that a lot of teams had problems with their tires wearing down to the cords after only 15 laps. The cool track at night should help this problem, but I would not be surprised if some drivers had tire issues tonight.

DFS STRATEGY FOR HOMESTEAD

This is the section of the article where I typically tell you how many dominator points are available in the race and how many dominators we typically need in our lineups. None of that matters tonight. Winning our DraftKings Contest will come down to how we play Kyle Larson. “Yung Money” is priced $3,000 more than any driver in the field. He is going to need to totally dominate the race tonight in order to return value. His last Truck Series race was in 2023 at North Wilksboro. Larson led 138 laps, scored 58 fastest laps and won the race (He scored 112.6 DraftKings Points in that race). Larson will absolutely be worth his price if he scores 100+ DK Points tonight. We can build some pretty good lineups if we fade him though. We can also get some pretty good leverage over the field by fading Larson. I hate when these Cup Series stars show up and totally dominate the race at 70% ownership. I plan to scale back my play tonight because we will likely be splitting our winnings with a lot of people. I will play Larson in 80% of my lineups and fade him in 20%.

DRIVER STATS FOR HOMESTEAD

We know Kyle Larson is good at Homestead, but who else is good at this track? Homestead is a unique track and it requires a unique racing style. I like to focus my picks on the drivers who have run well at Homestead. I used the data from the last three races at Homestead and added in the data from the race last week at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. I wanted at least some speed for the 2025 Truck Series races in the model.

Here are the stats from the last three races at Homestead-Miami Speedway and the race last week in Las Vegas, sorted by DraftKings Points…
