The Truck Series will join the Cup Series at Kansas Speedway this weekend. The trucks have been off for two weeks, so the teams had some time to work on their trucks and get them ready for the race in the Heartland. The field is pretty stacked with Kyle Busch and Ross Chastain competing with the trucks. This race has a history of putting on a good show (I remember when Kyle Busch wrecked Austin Dillon in the Truck Series race at Kansas and Grandpa pounded knots on Rowdy’s head 😊).The Heart of America 200 is scheduled for Friday at 8 pm ET on FS1.
PRACTICE / QUALIFYING
The Truck Series had a 20-minute practice session Saturday morning and then they lined up the trucks for qualifying. Some of the truckers were able to make long runs in practice. We can use this data for the picks tonight and combine it with the driver’s stats from the races at Las Vegas and Texas earlier this season.
Here are the lap times from the practice Saturday at Kansas…
DFS STRATEGY FOR KANSAS
The race at Kansas is scheduled for 134 laps (201 miles). That means there are 33.5 points available for leading laps and 60.3 points available for fastest laps (93.8 dominator points). The trend at Kansas over the last four Truck Series race is for one driver to lead roughly 90 laps and score 46 fastest laps (43.5 dominator points). A second driver leads roughly 30 laps and scores 26 fastest laps (19.2 dominator points). It will be very important to try and get these to drivers into our lineups tonight. It will not matter much what the cheap drivers in our lineups do, if we are able to score the 62.7 dominator points.
Kyle Busch will be in the No. 51 truck for Kyle Busch Motorsports tonight. He competed in this race in 2021. Rowdy qualified second, led 59 laps, scored 48 fastest laps (82.35 DraftKings Points). There is a good chance that Busch scores 80+ DraftKings Points again tonight. I may be tough to win our contest without him in our lineups. His price is steep ($13K), but I can still pair Busch with another dominator and make a good lineup.
Ross Chastain is also competing in the race tonight. Chastain will be driving the No. 41 truck for Niece Motorsports. This will be the third race for Chastain in the Truck Series this year (He competed at Las Vegas, COTA and Martinsville). Chastain only led 10 laps and his average finishing position in those three races is 13.6. Chastain is not a lock for a top-five finish like Kyle Busch it.
