Truck Series Fantasy Picks for Martinsville

Facebooktwitter

The Truck Series will trade in their dirt tires for some slicks to race at Martinsville Speedway. This is a unique track. It is categorized as a short, flat track, but Martinsville does not race like Phoenix, Richmond or New Hampshire. It races more like a road course, because the best way to get to the front is to out-brake your competitors in the corners. It should be fun to see the truckers beat and bang on each other as they race for the checkered flag. The Long John Silver’s 200 (Mmmmmm…Hushpuppies 😊 ) is scheduled for Friday at 7:30 pm ET on FS1.

PRACTICE / QUALIFYING

The Truck Series had a 20-minute practice session Friday and then they lined up the trucks for qualifying. Most of the truckers were able to make some long runs in practice. We can use this data for the picks tonight and combine it with the drivers track history at Martinsville.

Here are the lap times from the practice Friday at Martinsville…

DFS STRATEGY FOR MARTINSVILLE

The race at Martinsville is scheduled for 200 laps (100 miles). That means there are 50 points available for leading laps and 90 points available for fastest laps (140 dominator points).

Kyle Busch will be in the No. 51 truck for Kyle Busch Motorsports tonight. He competed in this race last year and Rowdy only led 1 lap and he finished 3rd. He will not be worth his high price if he has a race like that. Busch also led 174 of the 200 laps in 2019 and 123 of the 200 laps in 2016. He won both of those races and you could not win your DraftKings contest without Busch in your lineups. I plan to pay up for Busch in half of my lineups and fade him in the other half.

Ross Chastain is also competing in the race tonight. Chastain will be driving the No. 41 truck for Niece Motorsports. Chastain has finished 2nd, 4th and 7th in his last three Truck Series races at Martinsville. He has also averaged 40 laps led and 32 fastest laps scored in those races. I will pivot from Kyle Busch to Chastain in some of my lineups tonight.

The drivers with the best chance to score dominator points today are: Kyle Busch, Zane Smith, Ty Majewski and Ben Rhodes

The drivers with the best chance to score place differential points include Ross Chastain, Ty Majewski, Nick Sanchez, Jake Garcia, Taylor Gray, Hailie Deegan, Colby Howard, Dean Thompson, Timmy Hill and Spencer Boyd

DRIVER GROUP GAME PICKS

The Driver Group Game will once again have a contest for the Truck Series. It is easy to play. You simply select one driver from Group A, two drivers from Group B and one driver from Group C for your lineup. You can only use the drivers in Groups A & B six times throughout the season. You can only use the drivers in Group C five times throughout the season, so you have to use your allocations wisely. Here is the link to join: DGG Truck Series Game

Here are the drivers I will use for the Long John Silver’s 200

Good luck with your lineups!
