Updated Best Bets for Dover

The Cup Series had a 20-minute practice, followed by qualifying Saturday morning. It has not been too tough to figure out which drivers have the best chance to win the race after we see the lap times, long-run speed chart and know where each driver will start the race. I expect the same this week. There were a few drivers who I really liked in practice, so I will be adding them to my betting card for the race at Dover.

I already have CHASE ELLIOTT (+1100), ALEX BOWMAN (+1600) and TY GIBBS (+1800) on my betting card.

* I have $60 left from my $100 budget. Here is how I will be spending the remaining funds on the Wurth 400

WILLIAM BYRON (+600): I should have bet Byron to win earlier in the week. His odds opened up at +750 and they fell to +600 after he posted the third-fastest speed in practice, with the best long-run speed. Byron dominated the race at Dover last year. He will have a good chance to win again Sunday. This bet is more of an insurance policy, so I can get my money back + $80 if Byron is able to find Victory Lane Sunday.

DENNY HAMLIN (+650): Hamlin will be another insurance policy on my card this week. The crew chiefs said that the tires will not wear like they did at Bristol, but it looked identical in practice. The tires were down to the cords after only 20 laps. Hamlin proved he is the master of saving tires after his win at Bristol. I will bet that Hamlin can do the same at Dover.

KYLE BUSCH (+1200): The word out of the garage was about how fast the tires were wearing out. The one team that did not seem to have any problems with tire wear is Busch. His odds are +1200 because he hasn’t sniffed Victory Lane for a year, but that could change Sunday. Busch starts on the pole and has the No.1 pit stall. I will take a chance with Busch this weekend.

Good luck Sunday!
