The Cup Series is set to start their “West Coast Swing” Sunday with a race at Auto Club Speedway. NASCAR schedules the races on the west coast early in the season because the weather is typically nice in California during this time of year. That is not the case this weekend. The Cup Series practice and qualifying was washed out, so the starting lineup was set “per the rule book.” That means some of the fastest cars will start deep in the field and some of the worst cars will start up front. This should be interesting. I still like the drivers who start outside the top-15 who have a history of running well at Auto Club.
