The Fantasy Live picks are off to a great start. The best I have ever finished in this game was 12th overall in 2016. I am really want to finish in the top-10 overall this season so I am putting a lot of work into the Fantasy Live game this year. I had to make a few changes to the lineup I posted Wednesday to ensure we get maximum points Sunday.
Here are my updated Fantasy Live picks for the real Hereos 400 at Darlington…
Brad Keselowski: The winner of the draw for starting positions was Brad Keselowski. He drew the pole position for the race Sunday and that gives him a little more value in the Driver Group Game then my original pick (Kevin Harvick). Keselowski has run well in the 550 HP aero-package this season and he has the best Driver Rating and best Average Finishing Position at Darlington since 2017. Keselowski should score a lot of Stage points, lead a lot of laps and finish up front Sunday.
Kyle Busch: Brad Keselowski’s best friend (Kyle Busch) will lineup in the row right behind Keselowski. I expect the No. 2 and No. 18 cars to battle for the lead a lot in this race. A driver has to have a lot of guts to drive the car into turn one at full-throttle without any practice or qualifying. Busch is not afraid to give it all he has to take the early lead in this race. Busch should score a lot of Stage points and be a serious threat to go to Victory Lane Sunday.
Kevin Harvick: Kevin Harvick is the safest pick in the field this week. He may not lead as many laps as Brad Keselowski or Kyle Busch but his chances of finishing in the top three is the best in the field. Harvick has been the most consistent driver in the field this year and the most consistent at Darlington. Harvick is the only driver to finish every race in 2020 in the top 10. He has also finished every race at Darlington since 2012 in the top 10. It does not get any safer than that.
Denny Hamlin: I originally had Joey Logano is this spot and I still really like the No. 22 car for the race Sunday. I switched to Denny Hamlin because of his history at Darlington and I have already used Logano a lot this season. Hamlin is one of the best at managing tire-wear and that should help him on the long runs. Hamlin starts 10th. The No. 11 car should score a lot of Stage points and compete for a top-five finish Sunday.
Jimmie Johnson: I really like Jimmie Johnson for this race. He has the most wins at Darlington because he is very good at managing his tire wear throughout a long run. Johnson has also been very good in the races that used the 550 HP aero-package this season. Johnson finished 5th at Las Vegas and 7th at Auto Club. Johnson starts 8th and he should spend a lot of time running in the top 10 Sunday. At 28/1 odds, Johnson is my favorite bet in the field.
Chase Elliott: I will start Chase Elliott in the Garage Sunday. His speed this season is simply too fast to ignore. I also like the fact that Hendrick Motorsports is “all in” for the 2020 season. Chevy focused their offseason efforts on the 2020 car while Ford and Toyota worked on the “Car of Tomorrow”. There on track performance shows their efforts are paying off. I expect the No. 9 car to continue to run up front this week.
Good luck this week!
