The NASCAR Cup Series will return to Grant Park for another race around the streets of Chicago Sunday. This will be the third year that NASCAR has celebrated the 4th of July in Chicago. Mother Nature did not cooperate in the first two races. Hopefully the Cup Series can get 75 laps on a dry track this year. The Grant Park 165 can be seen Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on TNT.
NASCAR separated the Cup Series teams into two groups based on the metrics from the race last week in Atlanta. Each group was given 25-minutes to shake down their cars for the Grant Park 165. The teams then went out for group qualifying to set the field for Sunday’s race. The drivers who were fast in practice, qualified up front for Sunday’s race and have a history of running well on the road courses are the drivers we will want in our lineups this weekend.
