The NASCAR Cup Series will take a break from road course racing to try and conquer the Monster Mile this weekend. The race at Dover Motor Speedway has been moved from its traditional spot in May, to the hot, slick track in July. Will this improve the racing at this one-mile, concrete oval? It should be fun to see how it all plays out at the Dover Motor Speedway. The AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400 can be seen Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on TNT.
Qualifying was rained out. The field was set “per the metrics” from the stats at Sonoma last week. This means there are some good drivers starting deep in the field and some not-so-good drivers starting up front. Goodyear is bringing a new tire to the track and the teams have no clue how the concrete will take rubber during the race. Dover went from being one of the easiest races to predict, to one of the hardest since practice was rained out. I am simply going to trust the stats from the previous races at Dover and the tracks similar to Dover this week. That is all we have to work with.

* It is really close between William Byron and Denny Hamlin as the pick to win the race. I have Hamlin winning, but Dover is a good track for Byron too. I will split my picks this week and play Hamlin in FanTrax and Byron in Speedway Collective. If you do not play both games and simply want the best pick; I trust Hamlin more at the Monster Mile.
