Phoenix Raceway is the next track on the Cup Series schedule. This is one of the most important non-playoff races because it is the track where the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series Champion will be crowned. The Cup Series teams should have their best short-track cars ready to go for this 312-lap race in the desert. It should be fun to see how it all plays out. The Shriners Children’s 500 can be seen Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET on FS1.
The Cup Series had a 45-minute practice to dial in their cars for the race Sunday. NASCAR gave each team one set of primary tires and one set of option tires for the practice session. This option tire skewed much of the practice speeds, so it is tough to tell exactly who had the fastest cars. We should still be able to learn something from this practice session and track position is important, so we can use the qualifying speed for our picks Sunday.
