My goal in each race is to provide the best picks possible so we can win our Fantasy NASCAR leagues. I post my picks early in the week so you have time to set your lineups. Sometime between the time I post the picks and the Driver Group Game roster lock period, I come across information that makes me want to change my picks. This is one of those weeks.
I spend a lot of time listening to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio as I research the data during the week. Cole Pearn was on the station and he said, “Winning the race last week gives us more time to work on our cars for the next round of the playoffs. Yes, we will do our best this week but honestly we want to get a head start on the competition for the next round.” Well, that is great news for them but no such great news for people depending on Martin Truex Jr. in Fantasy NASCAR this week. I still think Truex has a good chance to dominate the race but I am switching him out for Kyle Busch. (If your are low on allocations with Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr. will still be my pick)
Kyle Busch is fired up after last week. He has been the most dominant driver at Richmond, the most dominant driver on the short tracks this season and he most dominant driver at tracks using the 750 HP aero package. I will pair Busch with Kevin Harvick in Group A.
The other driver I want to add to my team is Ryan Blaney. I originally did not have the No. 12 car in my lineup because Richmond has not been his best track. I heard him talk on the radio and he said, “The race Saturday night should give us a good chance to finish up front and possibly win the race. Our 750 HP package has been outstanding and e had a good car at Richmond in the spring.” When I looked at his stats I found that Blaney finished 3th at Phoenix, 4th at Martinsville, 4th at Bristol and 4th at New Hampshire. He finished 25th at Richmond but he had a problem in the race. His average running position was 8th though. I think there is a chance Blaney does run well Saturday night.
Here is my updated lineup…
Driver Group Game Team
Group A: Kyle Busch (2), Kevin Harvick (3)
Group B: Denny Hamlin (2), Ryan Blaney (3), Clint Bowyer (1), Ryan Newman (6)
Group C: Matt DiBenedetto (4), Ty Dillon (4)
Good luck this week!
