Xfinity Series Fantasy Picks for Charlotte

Facebooktwitter

The Xfinity Series will join the Cup Series and Truck Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway this week. It has been a long time since I have had such a tough time with the picks in the Xfinity Series. “The Series Where Names are Made” usually has a few drivers who run up front every week and we can count on them for dominator points. We do not have a Ty Gibbs or Noah Gragson that we can simply pay up for and know we will score most of the dominator points. Each week another driver dominates this race. If we are lucky enough to find the right combination of drivers who run up front, they have all crashed each other at the end of the race and took away the points. Hopefully this series becomes more predictable soon.

XFINITY SERIES PRACTICE / QUALIFYING

The Xfinity Series had a 20-minute practice Friday to shake down their cars for Saturday’s race. Some of the drivers were able to make some long runs, so we have some data to work with Saturday. The cars lined up for qualifying after practice and the teams are only allowed to make minor adjustments to the cars before the cars. The speed from practice should translate into speed for the race.

Here are the practice speeds for the Alsco Uniforms 300 at Charlotte…

XFINITY SERIES STATS ON SIMILAR TRACKS

The Xfinity Series has only competed on one 1.5-mile track this year (Las Vegas). Atlanta Motor Speedway is now considered a Superspeedway and the Xfinity Series did not compete at Kansas. We can look at the data from Las Vegas and the intermediate track races at Dover and Darlington to help predict which drivers will finish up front Saturday. I combined the data from those races with the race at Charlotte last year for the key stats for Saturday’s race. He is the driver’s results in those races sorted by Driver Rating…..

STRATEGY FOR CHARLOTTE

The race Saturday is scheduled for 200 laps (300 miles). That means there are 50 points available for leading laps and 135 points available for fastest laps (185 total dominator points). The trend in the Xfinity Series race at Charlotte is for one driver to lead roughly 90 laps and score 44 fastest laps (42.3 dominator points). A second driver leads 60 laps and scores 40 fastest laps (33 dominator points). A third driver leads roughly 38 laps and score 20 fastest laps (18.5 dominator points). We will win every contest if we are able to have the three dominators in our lineups and score the roughly 94 dominator points. For that reason, I will be paying up for the drivers who I think can lead the most laps Saturday.

The drivers with the best chance to be the top dominators includes Justin Allgaier, Ty Gibbs, Kyle Busch, John H. Nemechek and Cole Custer

The drivers who start in the back with the best chance to score place differential points includes Austin Hill, Josh Berry, Sammy Smith, Chandler Smith, Carson Hocevar, Parker Kligerman, Ryan Sieg, Kaz Grala, Jeremy Clements and Parker Retzlaff,
