Xfinity Series Fantasy Picks for Darlington

Facebooktwitter

The Cup Series starts their playoffs this week at Darlington, but the Xfinity Series still has two races left on their schedule before they start their run for the championship starts (Darlington and Kansas). This means this is the last race of the season where the Cup Series drivers are able to compete against the Xfinity Series drivers. Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch and Ross Chastain will step down from the Cup Series to compete in the Xfinity Series race Saturday. Corey Heim and Rajah Caruth will step up from the Truck Series to compete too. The field is stacked and it should be fun to see which driver is able to tame Darlington. The Sport Clips Help a Hero 200 can be seen Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on USA Network.

PRACTICE AT DARLINGTON

The Xfinity Series teams had 20-minutes to shake down their cars for Saturday’s race. It is important for the teams to see what kind of long-run speed their cars had, so most of the drivers made some long runs in practice. It will be important to look at which drivers were able to maintain their speed over the 10-lap average speed chart. These are the drivers we want in our DraftKings lineups at Darlington.

AVERAGE DFS POINTS ON SIMILAR TRACKS

Darlington is a 1.33-mile, egg-shaped, high-banked track. Darlington wears out tires as fast as any track on the circuit. The drivers who are good at saving their tires over a long run will be up front Saturday. We can learn a lot by looking at the data from the May race at Darlington, the February race at Auto Club and last year’s race at Homestead. These are all high tire-wear tracks.

Dover is a high-banked track, similar in size to Darlington. We can also learn a lot by looking at the data from the April race at the Monster Mile.

Here are the average DraftKings points on the last three races at Darlington and the similar tracks to “The Lady in Black”…

STRATEGY FOR DARLINGTON

The race Saturday is scheduled for 147 laps. The trend in the Xfinity Series race at Darlington is for one driver to lead roughly 80 laps and score 24 fastest laps (30.8 dominator points) and another driver to lead 50 laps and score 22 fastest laps (22.4 dominator points). It will be important to select these two drivers for out lineups and score the 53 bonus points that they are projected to score. There is a great chance that these two drivers will be Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin. Kyle Busch should be up front too, but I am not sure his Kaulig Racing car can compete with the Hendrick Motorsports car Larson has or the Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota that Denny Hamlin will be driving. I plan to pay up for all of these Cup Series stars Saturday.

The drivers with the best chance to lead laps and score dominator points include Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch and John H. Nemechek

The drivers with the best chance to score place differential points include Kyle Larson, Kyle Busch, Ross Chastain, Jeb Burton, Brett Moffitt, Kaz Grala, Jeremy Clements, Kyle Weatherman, Brennan Poole and Josh Williams
