The Xfinity Series will join the Cup Series at Talladega this weekend. NASCAR no longer allows the teams to have any practice before the race, so hopefully the teams checked the car for leaks and made sure the belts are on tight to avoid mechanical issues early in the race. This is another “Dash for Cash” race. That means the Cup Series drivers are not allowed to enter the race. Josh Berry, John H. Nemechek, Cole Custer and Sammy Smith will be the four drivers competing for the $100K bonus. It will be fun to see who can will win the race and the “Dash for Cash” this weekend. The Ag-Pro 300 can be seen Saturday at 4 pm ET on FS1.
XFINITY SERIES STATS ON SUPERSPEEDWAYS
The race at Talladega is impossible to predict, but we cannot ignore the stats on the Superspeedways. There are some drivers in the Xfinity Series who are better than others at moving through the field to get to the front.
Here are the drivers with the best stats on the Superspeedways over the last two seasons…
STRATEGY FOR TALLADEGA
The race Saturday is scheduled for 113 laps. That means there are 28.25 points available for leading laps and 50.85 points available for fastest laps. The trend in the Xfinity Series race at Talladega is for the dominator points to be spread out through three drivers. One driver typically leads 24 laps, another driver leads 20 laps and a third driver leads 18 laps. None of these dominators score more than seven dominator points. We must go after the place differential points this week using the drivers listed in the chart above who have a history of scoring well at the Superspeedway tracks.
I will be playing some drivers who start up front in the Tournament Contest lineup. Austin Hill, Riley Herbst and Ryan Truex have consistently finished up front on the Superspeedways. I will take a chance with them in the Tournament Contest lineup.
The drivers who start in the back with the best chance to score place differential points includes Josh Berry, Cole Custer, Sam Mayer, Brandon Jones, Ryan Truex, Riley Herbst, Parker Kligerman, Ryan Sieg, Kaz Grala, Jeremy Clements, Joe Graf Jr., Garrett Smithley, Josh Bilicki and Joey Gase
