The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series competes at Homestead-Miami Speedway Sunday. The final race of the season is finally here. No need to save your allocations now. Use the best drivers you can and hope for the best. That is the only strategy to use Sunday.
Before I get into the picks I want to say thank you for giving my new website a chance this year. This was my first year posting picks on the website and I think it was a huge success. I cannot wait to make it even better in 2018.
We all have different amounts of allocations left with our drivers. If you need to know which drivers I like the best, simply look at my rankings for each group.
Martin Truex Jr. (1): My plan was to use Kevin Harvick as my Group A driver but the No. 78 car has too much speed to ignore. Also it will be a long offseason if Truex Jr. wins the championship and I left an allocation with him on my bench. I am playing it safe and using Truex this week. If you need to make up some ground on your competition feel free to use Kyle Busch or Kevin Harvick. It is splitting hairs picking between these three drivers. Each of their cars has a lot of speed this week.
Group A Rankings: 1) Martin Truex Jr. 2) Kevin Harvick, 3) Kyle Busch 4) Denny Hamlin, 5) Brad Keselowski, 6) Matt Kenseth, 7) Joey Logano, 8) Jimmie Johnson, 9) Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Kyle Larson (1): I have been saving my last allocation with Larson for 6 weeks. I feel like I have to use him this week. Larson has been the best driver at Homestead the last two seasons. No one runs the top as well as the No. 42 car. Larson had the 5th fastest 10-lap average speed Saturday. I expect Larson to get to the front and battle for the lead this week.
Clint Bowyer (1): I took a chance with Bowyer this week and so far it looks like he will pay off. Bowyer was 2nd fastest in final practice with the 8th fastest 10-lap average speed. He starts 16th but I am not worried about it. Drivers can make passes if they have a fast car. Bowyer has a top-10 car this week.
Group B Rankings: 1) Kyle Larson, 2) Kurt Busch, 3) Jamie McMurray, 4) Ryan Blaney, 5) Clint Bowyer, 6) Chase Elliott, 7) Ryan Newman., 8) Austin Dillon, 9) Ricky Stenhouse Jr. 10) Kasey Kahne
Michael McDowell (1): This will be the last race for McDowell in the No. 95 car. I could tell by following him on Twitter that he is very motivated to run well this week. He ran in the top 15 in the practice session but got loose in qualifying when his tires got on the apron. He finished 12th in this race last year. I am hoping he can do it again Sunday.
Group C Rankings: 1) Erik Jones, 2) Daniel Suarez, 3) Michael McDowell, 4) Ty Dillon, 5) David Ragan, 6) Landon Cassill
Good luck this week!
