Yahoo Fantasy Auto Racing Picks for Indianapolis

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series competes at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Sunday. As we get deeper into the schedule the landscape of the Cup Series continues to change. The Toyotas continue to show more speed, Stewart-Haas Racing and Hendrick Motorsports show they can run in the top 10 and Team Penske continues to fall further back from the competition. I will continue to use momentum to determine which drivers make it into my starting lineup for Yahoo Fantasy Auto Racing.

Here are my picks for the Brickyard 400…

Kyle Busch (6): This is Kyle’s race to lose this week. He has finished 2nd, 1st and 1st in the last three races at the Brickyard. He starts from the pole at a track where it is very difficult to pass. Busch should win the race Sunday.

Group A Rankings: 1) Kyle Busch, 2) Martin Truex Jr., 3) Kevin Harvick, 4) Denny Hamlin, 5) Jimmie Johnson, 6) Matt Kenseth, 7) Brad Keselowski, 8) Joey Logano, 9) Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Kurt Busch (6): Kurt is hard to trust but he has been running well lately. He finished 4th at Pocono (That track races like the Brickyard) and he finished 8th last week. The No. 41 car has the same setup as Kevin Harvick’s car so he should be fast Sunday.

Ryan Blaney (3): Whenever a race comes down to horsepower and drag racing down the backstretch, I want the Wood Brothers Racing Ford on my team. They know how to get speed out of their cars. Blaney won at Pocono and he should have the ponies under the hood to stay up front this week.

Group B Rankings: 1) Kyle Larson, 2) Jamie McMurray, 3) Kurt Busch, 4) Ryan Blaney, 5) Chase Elliott, 6) Clint Bowyer, 7) Ryan Newman, 8) Kasey Kahne, 9) Paul Menard, 10) Ricky Stenhouse Jr., 11) Austin Dillon, 12) Danica Patrick

Daniel Suarez (4): I really wanted to use Ty Dillon in this spot but his car looks very slow this week. The Toyotas have the speed so I will roll with Suarez again this week. He has been overachieving all season and he should finish in the top 15 Sunday.

Group C Rankings: 1) Erik Jones, 2) Daniel Suarez, 3) Ty Dillon, 4) Michael McDowell

Good luck this week!
