The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series competes at Kentucky Speedway Saturday night. Allocations are becoming more important now that the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series has complete 17 races. I decided to use some of the big name drivers for my team this week. The cream always rises to the top on the 1.5-mile tracks so there is no need to sit the best drivers on your bench this week.
Here are my picks for the Quaker State 400…
Brad Keselowski (5): Keselowski did not have the best single lap times in practice but the car was very fast on the long runs. The team was working on scuffing tires and working on running on old tires. The team thinks this race will come down to fuel millage so Paul Wolfe wanted to ensure the car could stay out of the pits and get the most out of old tires. This team always thinks outside the box. Brad starts 10th Saturday night.
Chase Elliott (7): Chase had one of his best practice sessions in a while. The No. 24 car really liked their car. Chase was 3rd fastest with the 4th-best 10-lap average speed. Chase is still looking for his first win and his car is fast enough to get the job done Saturday night.
Ryan Blaney (5): Blaney was fast ever since they unloaded from the hauler. He was 4th fastest in the morning practice and 4th fastest in the Final Practice. He said this track races like Texas and he qualified 2nd and finished 12th in that race. The No. 21 car is running better now than they were when the series competed at Texas. I expect Blaney to be up front this week.
Erik Jones (4): I hate to burn another allocation with Jones this week but the No. 77 car is too fast to sit on the bench. I really wish I had Bubba Wallace. I do not think Wallace will finish as high as Jones, but the No. 43 car looked good in practice. I like Jones to finish in the top 10 Saturday night.
