Yahoo Fantasy Auto Racing Picks for Sonoma

Facebooktwitter

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series competes at Sonoma Raceway this week. Allocations are becoming more important now that the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series has completed 15 races. This is a good week to save your allocations with the top drivers in the Yahoo Fantasy Auto Racing Game (Martin Truex Jr., Kevin Harvick, Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, Jamie McMurray, Erik Jones and Daniel Suarez.)

Here are my picks for the Toyota / Save Mart 350…

GROUP A

Kyle Busch (8): My strategy was to select Martin Truex Jr. for qualifying points and Kyle Busch for the race. This strategy worked out perfectly because they were the two highest qualifying drivers in Group A. Truex scored my team 3 bonus points and Busch scored my team 1 bonus point. I am sticking with Busch for the race. He needs a win and no driver in the series has won more than Busch at Sonoma. I think he will push drivers out of the way to get the job done Sunday.

GROUP B

Kurt Busch (7): My strategy for Group B was to use Kyle Larson for qualifying points. That strategy worked out perfectly as well. Larson scored my team 10 bonus points for Sunday. I will save an allocation with Larson and use Kurt Busch for the race. He leads the series in almost every category at Sonoma. He said he did not heat the tires up enough in qualifying. I am not worried about him making his way to the front from the 17th starting position.

AJ Allmendinger (9): The last choice came down to Clint Bowyer or AJ Allmendinger. I chose Allmendinger simply because I need to use an allocation with him and save one with Bowyer (I only have 5 left with Bowyer). Allmendinger has the talent to win this race. Does he have the car? He said in practice Friday that this is the best car he has ever had at a road course. I hope he is right.

GROUP C

Michael McDowell (8): McDowell is the only good choice in Group C this week. He qualified 16th and he ran in the top 15 in both practices Friday. McDowell also said this is the best car he has ever had at Sonoma. The No. 95 car should finish inside the top 15 Sunday.
