DFS Xfinity Series Picks for Charlotte

Facebooktwitter

The Xfinity Series will join the Cup Series and Truck Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend. The field for the BetMGM 300 is stacked. Chase Elliott will drive the No. 17 car for Hendrick Motorsports, Kyle Busch will drive the No. 33 for Richard Childress Racing, Ty Gibbs will drive the No. 20 for Joe Gibbs Racing and Noah Gragson will drive the No. 130 car Rette Jones Racing (I never heard of that team). Taylor Gray and Dean Thompson will also move up from the Truck Series and race in some pretty good cars. We have a lot of options for our lineups Saturday. It should be a pretty fun race to watch and take a chance in a DraftKings Contest.

PRACTICE AND QUALIFYING AT CHARLOTTE

The Xfinity Series was allowed 20-minutes of track time to shake down their cars for Saturday’s race. The Xfinity Series has only averaged three cautions per race on the 1.5-mile tracks this year. The race last year at Charlotte had two cautions for Stage breaks and two for accidents. This race will likely have some long green flag runs. That means we need to focus our picks on the drivers who were fast on the long runs in practice.

DRAFTKINGS POINTS AT CHARLOTTE

The Xfinity Series has raced on two 1.5-mile tracks this year (Las Vegas and Texas). We can also use the data from the last race at Darlington for our picks this week. I will be combining the data from those races in 2024 with the data from the last two oval track races at Charlotte.

Here are the stats from the three intermediate track races this year (Las Vegas, Texas and Darlington), combined with the two races at Charlotte, sorted by DraftKings Points…

STRATEGY FOR CHARLOTTE

There are 200 laps in the race at Charlotte (300 miles). That means there are 50 points available for leading laps and 90 points available for fastest laps (140 dominator points). The trend in the last three races at Charlotte is for one driver to lead 80 laps and score 32 fastest laps (34.4 dominator points). Another driver leads 60 laps and scores 32 fastest laps (29.4 dominator points). A third driver leads 50 laps and scores 20 fastest laps (21.5 dominator points). I will be paying up for the drivers who have the best chance to lead the most laps Saturday. We will need at least two of the three dominators in our lineup in order to return a profit. This means I will be playing a lot of “stars and scrubs” lineups at Charlotte.

The drivers with the best chance to score dominator points today includes Ty Gibbs, Kyle Busch, Justin Allgaier and Cole Custer

The drivers with the best chance to score place differential points include Chase Elliott, Riley Herbst, Ryan Sieg, Parker Kligerman, Kyle Weatherman, Shane van Gisbergen, Kyle Weatherman and J.J. Yeley
