DFS Xfinity Series Picks for Daytona

Facebooktwitter

The Xfinity Series will join the Cup Series at Daytona International Speedway this weekend. While the Cup Series is getting ready to set their field for the 2024 playoffs, the Xfinity Series still has five races before their playoffs begin at Kansas Speedway. That does not mean this race will be any tamer than the Cup Series race. We are still going to need a lot of luck in order to get our drivers to finish up front. The Wawa 250 can be tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET on USA Network.

PRACTICE AND QUALIFYING AT DAYTONA

NASCAR eliminated practice at the Superspeedway tracks. The teams lined up for qualifying Friday evening and then they will race tonight without any time to shake down their cars. Hopefully our drivers can start the race without any gremlins in the car.

 * The last round of qualifying was canceled because of lighting in the area. We still got to see all of the drivers make a qualifying lap.

STATS TO USE FOR DAYTONA

The best way to handicap this race is to look at how the drivers performed in the other races on the Superspeedway tracks. I looked at the last five races at Daytona and combined that data with the two other races on the Superspeedways this year (Atlanta and Talladega). The drivers who score well in those races will have the best chance to score well tonight.

Here are the stats from the last five races at Daytona and the two other Superspeedway races this year, sorted by DraftKings Points…

STRATEGY FOR DAYTONA

The Superspeedway races in the Xfinity Series have become the “Austin Hill Show.” He has won two of the last three races at Daytona and three of the last four races on the Superspeedway in Atlanta. Hill is a good pick for the Superspeedway, even if he does start up front.

Finding the drivers to pair with Austin Hill can be tricky. I am simply going to look at where the drivers qualified for tonight’s race and see where they rank in average DraftKings Points on the Superspeedways. If the driver starts in the back and has a history of scoring well at Daytona, he will be in my lineup tonight.

The drivers with the best chance to score place differential points include Justin Allgaier, Cole Custer, Sam Mayer, Brandon Jones, Jeb Burton, Ryan Seig, Matt DiBenedetto, Brennan Poole, Jordan Anderson, Josh Bilicki and Joey Gase
