DFS Xfinity Series Picks for Martinsville

Facebooktwitter

The Xfinity Series will join the Cup Series and the Truck Series at Martinsville Speedway. This is going to be a fun race to watch and a fun race to play a DraftKings lineup in. Experience matters at Martinsville. Will the young drivers who have had success this year be able to learn enough in the simulator to run up front Saturday, or will the veteran drivers dominate the race? We will find out Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET on FS1.

PRACTICE AND QUALIFYING AT MARTINVILLE

The Xfinity Series had their normal schedule this week. The teams had a 20-minute practice session to shake down their cars for Saturday night’s race. Martinsville is a .526-mile flat track. It only takes 19 seconds to turn a lap at Martinsville, so most of the teams were able to make a long run in practice. Traffic can be an issue in practice at Martinsville and skew the lap times. I like to look at the long-run speed to handicap this race. We also must remember that track position is HUGE at Martinsville. We will want the drivers who start up front with the premium pit stalls in our lineup Saturday night.

Here are the speeds from Friday’s practice at Martinsville…

DRAFTKINGS POINTS AT MARTINSVILLE

The Xfinity Series has competed at two short, flat tracks this year (Phoenix and Richmond), but it is hard to compare those tracks to Martinsville. This is a unique track that requires drivers to out-brake their competitors and create a rhythm in order to pass cars and turn fast laps. I prefer to focus on the driver’s stats from the previous races at Martinsville to help handicap the race Saturday night.

Here are the stats from the last four races (two seasons) at Martinsville sorted by DraftKings Points…

STRATEGY FOR MARTINSVILLE

The Xfinity Series race at Martinsville is scheduled for 250 laps. That means there are 62.5 points available for leading laps and 112.5 points available for fastest laps (175 dominator points). The trend in the four races at Martinsville is for one driver to lead 160 laps and score 54 fastest laps (64.3 dominator points). Another driver leads 70 laps and scores 30 fastest laps (31 dominator points). It is going to be tough to win any of our DraftKings Contests without these two drivers and their 95 dominator points in our lineup. I plan to pay up for the drivers who I think can lead the most laps Saturday night.

The drivers with the best chance to score dominator points today includes Aric Almirola, Justin Allgaier and Cole Custer

The drivers with the best chance to score place differential points include Chandler Smith, AJ Allmendinger, Sammy Smith, Riley Herbst, Taylor Gray, Parker Kligerman, Corey Heim, Josh Williams, Myatt Snider and Blaine Perkins
