Early Week Driver Rankings for Las Vegas

Facebooktwitter

The Cup Series is ready to turn up the heat in Sin City as the eight drivers left in the playoffs compete for a chance to race for the championship at Phoenix Raceway. The eight drivers who were able to advance out of the Round of 12 include William Byron, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, Kyle Larson, Christopher Bell, Chris Buescher, Martin Truex Jr. and Tyler Reddick. A win Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will earn one of these drivers a spot in the final four. The South Point 400 can be seen Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC.

The Cup Series last raced in Las Vegas in early March. A lot has happened since then, but we can still learn a bit by looking at the data from the Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. We also need to look at the data from the two races at Kansas, the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte and the race at Texas in the last round of the playoffs. I will give the last races at Kansas and Texas extra weight in the rankings since the speeds from those races should translate into speed Sunday at Las Vegas.
