The PGA Tour will “Jack’s Place” this week for the Memorial Tournament. This is the tournament hosted by Jack Nicklaus, so the fields are always strong. The Memorial is a “signature event” again this year. That means the purse is $20M and the top golfers are required to play. 44 of the top-50 golfers in the World Golf Rankings will tee it up in Dublin, Ohio. There will be plenty of good choices for our DFS lineups this week.
COURSE BREAKDOWN
Muirfield Village was renovated before the Memorial Tournament three years ago. The course is a par 72 which plays 7,570 yards in length. It is a tough course which should prepare the golfers for the U.S. Open next week.
Muirfield Village has a lot of water and bunkers so it will be important for the golfers to be accurate off the tee. Bombing it off the tee will not be important this week since most of the golfers club down in order to keep it in the fairway. Accuracy off the tee will be more important than length in Ohio. The greens have a lot of slope and play very fast. Most of the golfers say that the Memorial Tournament plays like a major because of the tough course conditions. Every aspect of the golfer’s game will be tested this week.

CORE GOLFERS FOR THE MEMORIAL

THE MEMORIAL STRATEGY
The Memorial is an invitational tournament. There are 72 golfers in the field this week and unlike some of the other “signature events”, there is a cut this week. The top-50 and any golfer within 10 shots of the lead will play the weekend. There will be three or four “chalk plays” that miss the cut and blow up people’s lineup. The key to winning this week is to avoid those landmines.
To Scottie or not to Scottie, that is the question…. I just cannot fade Scottie Scheffler. He is the best golfer in this field. He had one of his worst putting performances of the year last week and he finished fourth. Now he gets to tee it up at one of his best courses. I will have Scheffler in over 50% of my Tournament Contest Lineups.
The best golfers on the PGA Tour are in the field this week. We can select Scottie Scheffler for our Cash Contest lineups and the five golfers we pair with him will be pretty good. I used that strategy last week and the lineup easily cashed. I will use the same strategy for the Memorial Tournament.
DRAFTKINGS CASH CONTEST

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER ($13,400): I used the “Scottie and Scrubs” strategy last week and the picks finished 17th out of 287 entries for my Cash Contest. I am using the same strategy again. I really do not need to write about the stats for Scheffler. We all know how good he is. This is his best course, so I will start my Cash Contest lineup with Scheffler and try to hit on the cheaper golfers in the field.
SI WOO KIM ($8,300): Selecting an $8K golfer to pair with Scottie Scheffler was not easy. I wanted to use Sepp Straka or Shane Lowry, but I could not make them fit. It came down to Matthew Fitzpatrick, Tony Finau or Si Woo Kim. I trust Kim the most out of these three golfers, so he gets the spot. Kim has finished his last five tournaments at Muirfield Village in the top-18 and he finished four of his last six tournaments on the PGA Tour in the top-18. He should be a safe pick for our Cash Contest lineups.
J.T. POSTON ($7,600): Poston checks all of the boxes this week. He has made 13 cuts in a row on the PGA Tour, so his form is good. He also made the cut in his last four trips to Muirfield Village, so his course history is good. Poston ranks No. 1 in SG Putting and No. 9 in the Key Stats. His game is hot right now, so Poston has a great chance to score well for this lineup.
ANDREW NOVAK ($7,100): Novak almost checks all of the boxes this week. His recent form is outstanding. This young golfer has finished four of his last five tournaments in the top-17. That includes a third-place finish in the Texas Open and a second-place finish in the Signature Event at the RBC Heritage. The only thing Novak does not have is course history. I am sure he will figure it out quickly this week.
CHRISTIAN BEZUIDENHOUT ($6,900): Muirfield Village is a tough course and that is what C-Bez excels at. He ranks No. 2 (Behind Si Woo Kim) in Bogey Avoidance. C-Bez just doesn’t make mistakes and that keeps him in contention in these tough tournaments. C-Bez has never missed the cut at “Jack’s Place” (4 for 4) and that includes a fourth-place finish last year. I played C-Bez in my Cash Contest lineup last week and it worked out well. I will go back to him this week in Ohio.
BUD CAULEY ($6,800): Cauley is my favorite golfer in the $6K price range. His price does not match his recent form. Cauley finished 6th at THE PLAYERS, 4th at the Valspar, 5th at the Texas Open and 3rd last week at the Charles Schwab. He should be priced in the $8K range based on his recent form. It has been a while since he played the Memorial Tournament, but he does have a ninth-place finish here. Cauley just needs to play like he did last week and he will be one of the best bargains in the field.
DRAFTKINGS TOURNAMENT CONTEST

COREY CONNERS ($9,100): I will have Scottie Scheffler in over 50% of my Tournament Contest lineups, so there will be plenty of examples of how to use Scottie in the Multi-Entry Lineups attachment below. I will start this lineup with Corey Conners. His ball-striking is outstanding and his game fits the Memorial Tournament perfectly. Conners has the recent form to be at the top of the leaderboard in Ohio.
SEPP STRAKA ($8,800): I really thought Straka would fade after his hot start to the 2025 season, but he is still playing some of the best golf on the PGA Tour. He won the last signature event at the Truist Championship. He also finished 13th in the signature event at the RBC Heritage. Straka finished 5th in this tournament last year and his form was nowhere near where it is now. He ranks No. 6 in the Key Stats, so he gets a spot in my lineup.
SHANE LOWRY ($8,700): Lowry finished 2nd in the last signature event at the Truist Championship and then he burned a lot of people by missing the cut in the PGA Championship. I will give him a mulligan for that tournament because his game has been lights out this year. Lowry ranks No. 4 in SG Tee-to-Green, No. 3 in SG Approach and No. 3 overall in the Key Stats. I will go back to Lowry this week at the Memorial Tournament.
TONY FINAU ($8,200): I never have any luck playing Finau in DFS, but I just cannot ignore the numbers this week. Finau finished his last two tournaments in the top-20 (15th at the signature event at the Truist Championship and 19th at the PGA Championship), so his form is getting better. He also finished 8th last year at the Memorial Tournament so the course history is good. Finau only ranks 31st in the Key Stats but he is trending up. I will take a chance with Finau at a course he knows well.
MATTHEW FITZPATRICK ($8,000): I am counting on a return to form from Tony Finau and I will do it with Matthew Fitzpatrick too. It wasn’t long ago that Fitzpatrick was winning a major and ranked in the top-10 of the World Golf Rankings. He went into a slump and now he is finding his game again. Fitzpatrick finished 23rd in the last signature event and 8th at the PGA Championship. He also finished 5th in the Memorial Tournament last year and 9th in 2023. This is one of the best courses for Fitzpatrick so he gets a spot in my Tournament Contest lineup.
RICKIE FOWLER ($7,000): I never thought I would be playing Fowler, but here we are. Fowler found some form over the off-season. He has made 13/15 cuts this year and that includes a 16th-place finish last week in Dallas. Fowler is a course horse at Muirfield Village. He has five finishes in the top-15 in his last eight trips to “Jack’s Place.” I will trust the recent form and the course history with Fowler and give him a spot in my Tournament Contest lineup.
